Do's and Don'ts in Tirumala

 

Do's

v Worship your ishta or kula Daivam before you start for Tirumula. Bathe in the Pushkarini and worship Varaha Swamy in His Temple before you go to worship Lord Venkateswara.
v Bathe and wear clean clothes before you enter the shrine. Concentrate on Lord Venkateswara inside the temple. Observe absolute silence and chant 'Om Sri Venkatesaya Namah' inside the temple.
v Bathe in the Papavinasanam and Akasa Ganga Tirthams at Tirumula.
v Respect ancient customs and usages while at Tirumala and promote religious sentiments among co-pilgrims. Deposit your offerings in the Hundi only.
v Keep Tirumala Clean.

Don'ts

v Don't carry much jewellery or cash with you.
v Don't eat non-vegetarian food.
v Don't consume liquor or other intoxicants.
v Don't smoke on Tirumala Hills.
v Don't approach touts for accommodation and darshan.
v Don't wear footwear in and around the premises of the temple.
v Don't buy spurious prasadams from street vendors.
v Don't come to Tirumala for any purpose other than worshipping the Lord.
v Don't rush in for darshan but take your chance in the queue.
v Don't enter the temple, if, according to custom or usage, you are prohibited to enter.
v Don't wear flowers at Tirumala, all flowers are for the Lord only.
v Don't encourage beggary.
v Don't spit or commit nuisance.
v Don't waste water and electricity.
v Don't allow strangers into the cottages.
v Don't hand over keys to them.
v Don't spit, urinate or defecate in the open.

How to make Tirumala pilgrimage a pleasant one

v The moment you think of Tirumala, reserve your Railway/ Bus tickets, accommodation and seva tickets well in advance.
v Soon after landing at Tirupati take Sudarshan token for free or paid darshan.
v If you find leisure time stay at Tirupati and visit local temples.
v TTD is plying free buses from Railway station to Alipiri for the benefit of the devotees who walk up the hills.
v The pilgrims can deposit the luggage, properly locked in the counter at Alipiri Foot path, before they start climbing holy steps and the luggage will be delivered at mantapam near CRO, Tirumala. This service is rendered free of cost.
v TTD has also arranged mobile auto clinics for repairing the vehicles stranded on both the ghat roads.
v Better plan up your pilgrimage to Tirumala during weekdays and avoid holidays as far as possible.
v All your family members need not wait in CRO for accommodation. One person can stand in the Q and others take rest at PAC adjacent to CRO building where toilets, bath rooms and tonsuring facilities, lockers are available.
v Contact Information counters at railway station, airport, RTC bus stand, Alipiri bus stand, I & Ill choultries, Alipiri toll gate and Renigunta railway station for any information.
v Help us to maintain the sanctity and serenity of Tirumala. Do not come to the sacred hills for any purpose other than darshan of Srivaru.
